Another 360° view from the top

One Year Later

Well, it's been over a year now since I returned from the trip. The time has just flown by and a lot has changed since then so I'm very grateful that I was able to do this hike.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to do much hiking at all so my gear has mostly been gathering dust. The exception is my hiking poles, which I lent to a former co-worker, Tony, who successfully summited Kilimanjaro earlier this year.

Haven't really got any big plans for my next big adventure. Any suggestions? Did managed to go to Vancouver for a weekend getaway in January and to Hong Kong (again) to attend a friend's wedding reception in May.

I haven't had a chance to update either of my blogs much as I'm spending most of my online time, which isn't much to begin with, now on Facebook, so if you're not on my friends list yet, please look me up!

Time for me to take another nap! It won't be at 18701 feet though.

Finally... More Proof

I finally got around to sorting everyone's pics and putting them altogether. Enjoy, O.

YouTube Videos

Since I'm still going through all the photos (probably about halfway), I've posted a few videos that Rob and I took during our hike that will hopefully hold ya over till then...

Before Summitting - Rob shows us around basecamp (92 seconds)

During - I take a quick 360 panorama just after coming down from the peak (22 seconds)

After - Rob reflects after a long day of hiking (62 seconds)

Celebrate - Just like Luke & the Ewoks... very inspirational (283 seconds)

We did it!

Well, I've been back in town for a week now, but I'm still catching up on everything. Luckily no jet lag!

Anyways, we lost Val early but the rest of us managed to somehow reach the summit on 8/29/2006 at approx 6:45am.

I had many ups and downs during the week and this trip was definitely one of my biggest challenges that I've ever faced. I'm thankful for our group and guides for helping me through it. I dedicate this to my moms and my grandma who passed away while I was on this trek.

I'm still compiling pictures from the entire group and will be posting the 'best-of' for each day from the safari and hike. Also, we should be able to slap up a few videos onto youtube, here's a sneak peak from a vid I took from my mobile:
